Education Program The UFA Education Committee is chaired by Dr. Volodymyr Bandera. It undertakes various projects to assist schools, colleges and universities at all levels in Ukraine with their efforts to improve the level of education in the country, including the building of library collections, assistance with the distribution of computers and other technology for schools and libraries, and the translation into Ukrainian of key English-language textbooks and reference books that would otherwise not be available to readers in Ukraine. Publication and distribution of such books is done cooperatively with copyright holders and the original publishing companies. The UFA Education Committee also coordinates the organization's efforts to assist college and university students from Ukraine to study in the United States. Our educational programs rely on the support of the donors. In 2008-9, we received generous donations from H. Malynowsky and from SUMA Credit Union. Previous donors include S. Romanko, Z. Chernyk and V. Bandera. UFA supports the purchase of copyrights, subsidizes the translation, assists in printing, and promotes distribution of books to libraries. In 2008-9, we were able to provide 40 gift subscriptions for Scientific American for libraries in Ukraine at a cost of $2,800. Our partnering with the Foundation Sable-Svitlo is supporting the distribution of Ukrainian and English books with a support of $5,200. Also, we are supporting the publication of a book by V. Pedak, Ostarbeiter: Victims of Two Dictatorships, as well as the translation of a book by T. Hunczak, Russian Imperialism. Past projects have been carried out in partnership with various educational and humanitarian institutions, which include: • Sabre-Svitlo Foundation in Lviv and Kyiv
